Why take him out of games if there is a better chance of him getting struck by lightning than actually getting hurt in the 4th quarter. Isn't that why you take the guy out because he might get hurt? Or is it because it's rest? or a combination of both. Iunno the objective of the game is to Win... Keep playing with Manning until you have the game in hand, and if you don't well keep him in cause it's not like he's gonna get hurt.

eh, the difference between a #3 and #4 seed is pretty meaningless to most teams. they may feel it's more important to rest their key guys.

I don't think it's that meaningless, it's a long shot but it could get you an extra home game. (If seed 3 and 4 meet in Championship game.

true but it will depend on how important marvin feels his players need to rest. personally, i don't think it's a good idea to sit starters because it messes up the chemistry, timing, and momentum of the team in general. since the bengals do have a 'little' to still be playing for next week, it may give marvin just enough reason to play his starters the full 60 minutes.

You should see the playoff thread at the Texans board. Busiest non-gameday/draft thread I've ever seen.

they pretty much said they were going to do this .............. remember when the saints and colts were both undefeated ............. the saints said they were going for 16-0 and now they're imploding after they lost .............. the colts said they were going for a SB championship .......... the saints failed their goal ............. we won't know if the colts fail their goal until the playoffs ..................

You know what would make this moment better? If Dungy of all people rips on the Colts for doing this on the Sunday night pregame show. I would LOL.

they should put a gag order on Dungy. the guy says some dumb stuff. actually all those NFLN and NBC guys say dumb crap, well I shouldn't say all Al Michael is the best in the business.

    1. Jets
    2. angry Colts
    3. Dolphins (or maybe it's just Mercury Cokehead... heck if I know)

Look, I get resting, I get going out of your way to say "we don't care about 16-0, we just want a Super Bowl," I get all of that. But when you're leading a close game against an inferior opponent that won't go away, you don't pull your starters. You show WHY you're 14-0. Everyone hated the 2007 Patriots, but they didn't let up when they beat a 1-win Miami team in Week 16 because the goal of every team is to WIN.

of course... no one's really going to berate the Colts because Peyton Manning is such a likable guy and blahblahblah. You may hear TV turkeys jabber about it, but it's always going to be a "well, they could have gone for it, but then what if someone gets hurt?" devil's advocate-type thing.

I'd say the Jets but I don't really ever hear a peep out of them. TV turkeys lol great term.
