The 49ers will be looking for quarterback Alex Smith to have a strong day Sunday against the St. Louis Rams to finish the 2009 season in style. Smith has the opportunity to remove all doubt heading into next season, 49ers coach Mike Singletary said. Smith appears to be virtually assured of being the team's quarterback next season as Singletary stopped just short of awarding him the job. "It's just going to be a matter of him continuing to mature and at some point in time, hopefully it's this Sunday, he's going to know, and everybody else will know, that he's the guy that can take us where we need to go," Singletary said. "He has done enough for me at this point to say that, going forward, I don't see why I would doubt it." Source: USA Today
Alex Smith isn't removing all doubt with one game against the freaking Rams, OMFGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG I hate the 49ers and their ridiculous holding on of hecked up crapty players. Took them a hot second to dump Julian Peterson but lets think about Smith for 5 years.
when i first read the thread title, i thought, "well, of course his spot on the roster is secure because he just renegotiated his contract to more of a back-up qb salary so they can just keep him as the #2 qb next season since he isn't costing them very much". however, the article is actually saying that smith is practically locked in as the starter for 2010 ................... :icon_eek: ........... i'm so sorry sweets and platoon ................
