I'm buying, they need some new weapons though. Not at RB cause they are loaded there. Mushin is too old, and they may need to replace Smith cause I think he wants to leave. So they could be in some trouble if they don't add receiving weapon. They have absolutely no depth at the position. But on the topic of Matt Moore, he looks pretty good to me and keep in mind he's probably not going to have to throw the ball 30 times a game or anything like that he's going to be a game manager. I'm definitely buying, however that's not to say they shouldn't add a Quarterback... They will be dumping alot of salary, not resigning Peppers (Drafted Brown for replacement), Delhomme being waived, and maybe Steve Smith. Those 3 guys will free up a ton of money and allow them to make a big splash in free agency if they desire to. Is John Fox' job safe though? I can picture him being fired.
They'll keep Smith. They have to have a playmaker on the outside and Dwayne Jarrett just ain't gonna be that guy. If Carolina does anything on offense, they need to pick up at least one, if not two quality receivers. And then teach whoever's playing quarterback to actually look that guy's way more than once every so often when Smith is overly-covered. I Believe in Matt Moore. Kid'll be fine.
I see them drafting a QB high (1st?) and rolling with Moore next year as a starter. If Moore pans out.....you got yourself a nice little trade chip
Buy. I'm going to give credit where credits due. I never discounted Moore or Carolina coming into this game but not in my wildest dreams did I ever believe we would lose in this fashion. Moore seems more poised and is making better decisions out there than Delhomme. I've said before if Jake was still the starter, I wouldn't have taken this Panther team as seriously. In his four starts this season, Moore has completed 63.1% of his passes for 828 yards - 7 Touchdowns - 1 Interception with a Quarterback rating of 106.7 and averaged 8.03 YPA. I think Fox's job could be saved with Moore's emergence and how the team has played in the past month overall, including impressive back to back wins over Minnesota and New York. He would be crazy not to give him at least a shot to win the Panthers starting QB job for the 2010 season.
excellent point and you may be right. the thing with 'new' QB's when they first start playing is that opposing defenses don't have time to find their weaknesses on film and exploit them so often times, a guy's first season will be easy for him at QB. His 2nd and 3rd seasons is where you really find out more about a guy.
he's got one hell of a run game, and the oline ins't far off. sell, the panthers will start to move on and draft a qb this year. jake is gone, steve smith isn't going anywhere. moore could end up starter but i think a rookie will come in and take his job.....
im not sure if he will pan out cause right now there isnt a whole lot of film on him. lets see what he does next season when teams have some film on him...
