Al Davis isn't ready to give up on JaMarcus Russell after only three seasons, even if it took Tom Cable only 21 games to determine that Bruce Gradkowski and Frye "give us a better chance to win." Davis has a ton invested in Russell, for sure. Russell was the No. 1 pick of the 2007 NFL draft and is in to the Raiders for $39 million so far. In return, Russell has guided the Raiders to just seven victories in his 25 starts, and was the league's lowest-rated passer and owner of the worst-completion percentage this season, Russell is the only one of Oakland's top three quarterbacks under contract next season. Gradkowski and Frye signed one-year contracts and aren't assured of returning for a second season. Source: Oakland Tribune
Until Al Davis is dead & buried the Raiders are gonna suck, if it was too soon to jump ship at the start of this season the time is now at hand. You'd have to be a masochist to keep tuning in for this crap.
Besides the big arm he hasnt shown me anything else, but if they dont want to give up with him then go get the best QB coach you can find and go back to basics. Resign Gradkowski and Frye(or maybe another vet) and let them battle for the job while Russell is the #3. But that is an insane amount of money to pay a #3 QB.
I think Al is gonna hafta take Jamarcus out back of the coliseum and give him the Old Yeller treatment - "No Tom, He's my Quarterback - I'll do it".
i think davis has just decided that he has already paid him way too much money to just let him go so he is going to have him put on 50 pounds in the off-season and have him play o-line..................
Good news is that the Raider'smay have to find a Qb the best way the Raider find them..........off the scrap heap lamonica, Plunkett, Gannon, Hoss to an extent,
