49ers QB Alex Smith, meanwhile, posted career highs in touchdown passes (18) and passer rating (81.5) after taking over for Shaun Hill. Mike Singletary said the fifth-year passer showed "steady progress" although he did not rule out the possibility of adding another quarterback to the roster. "That's a very important position, we're always looking at the best possible situation, period," Singletary said. Smith said that there are better days ahead, especially with the possibility to stay in the same offensive system. Source: San Jose Mercury News
Yeah, I'm not liking their QB situation. I'm a fan of Shaun Hill, but I know that having him under center only gives you a ball-control offense. They need someone who's willing to play ball-control but can sling it around if need be. That said, there aren't many of those out there, and you would have to make a trade for one. I think if I'm Singletary, I take a look at Jason Campbell. Dead serious, when he has time, he plays well, I think I give him the chance if a bigger name is not available.
