Redskins Hire Jim Haslett As Defensive Coordinator

Discussion in 'Washington Redskins' started by BigBlueBruiser, Jan 12, 2010.

  1. Jim Haslett is headed to Washington as the Redskins' defensive coordinator under new coach Mike Shanahan, league sources told the Post-Dispatch on Tuesday evening. Haslett met with Washington team officials earlier this week. Haslett became the front runner for the job once Mike Zimmer agreed to stay in Cincinnati as Bengals defensive coordinator.

  2. According to nfl.com, its a three year deal.

Solid hire by Washington. He was scheduled to meet with New York later on in the week but Washington was obviously his top choice all along.

I am liking the way the Redskins are reorganizing their coaching positions. Big improvement over last season.

I wonder how the change from a 4-3 to a 3-4 will go?

haslett definately will run a 3-4? did he actually run a 3-4 in st louis or new orleans? i don't think so, or were you saying that shanahan does? i wasn't sure what shanahan ran but i thought he ran a 4-3

Haslett ran a 4-3 in New Orleans and a Combo D in St Louis. He couldn't get our D working but barring Lovie Smith no one has for decades. Can't really slam the Redskins for their choice.
