Raiders P Shane Lechler Against Firing Tom Cable?

  1. Arguably the team's most valuable player, P Shane Lechler, told PFW he strongly believes Davis should reconsider if he's leaning toward firing Cable, who led Oakland to a 5-11 record in his first full season on the job. "I definitely am (watching closely)," Lechler, a five-time All-Pro, told PFW on Wednesday. "It may only be my opinion, but I think Tom Cable is a good guy for the job. He's got us headed in the right direction. There are a few players here and there that if we could switch out, we could do this. I really, really truly believe that he's the guy for the job and I would hate to see Al fire him."

Most valuable player, lol :D he is a great punter but if he's considered the most valuable player of the team, that's kinda sad.

I would hazard a guess that most of the players would probably be opposed to Cable's firing. He's always been a "players coach" despite his shortcomings and inexperience. I'm obviously not the guy's biggest fan, I think he's way out of his league as a coach although shows promise, but it's undeniable that he had this team playing reasonably decent considering the talent he had to work with after he finally got the balls to bench that fat sack of crap Russell.
That being said, no way Crazy Al will let him stay if he's unwilling (rightfully unwilling IMO) to work with Russell. Sad but true. So here we will go again scrounging through the coaching bottom feeders and ending up with whatever inexperienced scrub is willing to let Al tell him what to do for a while in exchange for a job.
