Pro Bowl safety Ed Reed said Saturday that he's "50-50" on whether he will retire or return to the Baltimore Ravens for another NFL season. Reed, 31, admits that Baltimore's 20-3 loss to the Indianapolis Colts stings and that he doesn't want to make an emotional decision. But after dealing with a serious neck injury for the past few seasons, Reed admits that retirement is an option. "It's 50-50," Reed said. "I got great doctors that I deal with. So I'm going to re-evaluate things and see how it goes. ... At the end of the day, it's my decision to play with injuries going forward for my career." Damn, I never thought he'd retire before Ray. With the kind of game he had tonight, I hope he stays, but health is more important.
Well thats not very good news, it'd be nice if he'd stick around for a couple more seasons because it seems like we're starting to get onto something here and Ed really does deserve a ring and he could sure help us get it. But bottom line (as we say) is that Ed Reed doesn't owe the Ravens organization a penny - he's been dynamite since we got 'em and I respect his right to choose when its over.
He'd have to flip flop for 4--5 seasons to Favre it. I'm suprised he's thinking retirement this early. He could end up in Canton if he continues to play at the level he's been at. I hope he does keep it going, he's been fun to watch. Stay healthy Ed
