Saints RB Deuce McAllister will announce his retirement from football later today. McAllister, 31, had been idle since the end of the 2008 season before being reinstated to the Saints roster last Friday, the day before the Saints defeated Arizona 45-14 in an NFC playoff game. McAllister was declared inactive for the game but led the Saints onto the Louisiana Superdome field to thunderous cheers and also was one of the Saints captains.

I thought that was such a class move by the organization in reinstating him and allowing him to be on the playoff roster. I always like Deuce, and it's a fitting way to help end the career of such a highly regarded Saint on a high note. I'm asssuming he will stay on the roster as long as the Saints are playing? It would be cool to see him actually dress for the Super Bowl, should they make it.

I don't believe they will dress him in football gear for the games, he should retire sometime today the article said, but he is a class act although damn he must weigh 260 right now.

Man I hope he stays on the roster for as long as they remain in the playoffs. One of my all time favourite non-Rams, a real class player.

Lol true...I don't think they would actually do it, just saying it would be nice for Deuce to be able to be suited up for the Super Bowl after all those years of New Orleans ineptitude that was his career.

Too bad, I'm sure Duece would like nothing more than for a PI call in the endzone during the superbowl... Can you imagine the crowd once Duece rolled into the endzone
