Chargers To Trade CB Antonio Cromartie?

Discussion in 'San Diego Chargers' started by BigBlueBruiser, Jan 21, 2010.

  1. The Chargers' Super Bowl window may be starting to shrink, because they might have some roster issues with some of their most talented players, including ballhawking starting cornerback Antonio Cromartie. Reporting for the San Diego Union-Tribune, SN correspondent Kevin Acee writes that team officials may look to trade Cromartie in the offseason to free up some money to sign other key players. One of those players is running back Darren Sproles, who stands to make $7.3 million in 2010 if he's tendered as a restricted free agent without a long-term deal in place.

If this is to be true, taking Sproles over Cromartie would be a real bad mistake. Good cornerbacks are few and far between, and when the Chargers have had so many secondary issues in the recent past, I just feel this rumour doesn't have legs.
