Colts Are Preparing As If DE Dwight Freeney Won't Play In Super Bowl XLIV

  1. Coach Jim Caldwell was the first to speak at the Colts’ arrival news conference Monday. As expected, the first questions were about defensive end Dwight Freeney, who according to the Colts is nursing a grade-three sprain to his right ankle. When asked if Freeney was wearing a walking boot, Caldwell wouldn’t elaborate on what kind of precautions the Pro Bowl lineman was taking this week but Caldwell did say that because Freeney is unable to practice this week, the coach is taking the approach that his top defender will not play in the Super Bowl against the Saints.
