New York Jets owner Woody Johnson, breaking his silence on the Rex Ryan middle finger incident, said the team was aware that the coach was spit on and cursed at by a Miami Dolphins fan when the team decided to fine Ryan $50,000. Ryan flipped off the Dolphins fan, which drew the fine from the team. "Despite the provocation, you still have to act a certain way," Johnson told the New York Daily News. Johnson said that Ryan's story matched what FOX Sports' Jay Glazer said during a WFAN story about the fan's behavior at the mixed martial arts event. "That's the story (Ryan) recited to me as well, about what actually happened," Johnson said. "The (fan) was uncontrollable and that's corroborated by Glazer. That still doesn't excuse what Rex did. He represents the New York Jets, the NFL and the fans of New York. He's got to not put himself in those kinds of situations." Source: National Football Post
Where I live if someone spits on someone that is considered agrivated battery. Was this fan arrested for disorderly conduct to say the least?
So he's not supposed to go anywhere? He didn't put himself in any type of situation! He was at an event just like everyone else there. The "fan" should've been charged with assault. Not charging him will give other people the idea to do the same crap or worse in order to get a reaction. Something should be done to protect the person being abused/assaulted. Dude should be glad a finger being waved was all he got and not a foot up the ass!!
