Free Agent WR Donte Stallworth Garnering Interest From Teams?

Discussion in 'NFL General Discussion' started by BigBlueBruiser, Feb 9, 2010.

  1. Former Patriots wide receiver Donte Stallworth, reinstated yesterday by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, will visit and workout with an NFL team tomorrow, his agent Drew Rosenhaus said. Rosenhaus was adamant that he did not want to speak about interest in Stallworth from specific teams, so it is not known if that team is the Patriots or any other club. "He is the best shape he's been in since I've been representing him," Rosenhaus said in a telephone conversation. "His reinstatement was a very smooth process. He's developed a very good rapport with Roger Goodell. We are very pleased with the amount of teams interested. Everything in the past is behind him, and he is excited to move forward." Rosenhaus said he expects Stallworth, 28, who was released by the Browns yesterday, to sign with a team "in the next couple weeks at the latest" and that Stallworth is willing to play for all 32 NFL teams.

Why don't the Ravens take a serious look at him? He's no Brandon Marshall (at least, not on the field *wink*), but he would definitely be an improvement.

Because we don't need another project or 'almost great' receiver - we got a whole pack of those already. We need quality, not a 28 year old coming off a year long suspension for murdering someone.

i'm not surprised. WRs are at a premium right now. Pacman got a few chances and he wasn't even that good. at least Stallworth has some talent

Seems like jail time raises the stock of players nowadays...

He wasnt that good before jail why would anyone expect more after. He can stretch the field some, if you need a 3rd Wr then you take a look, if you need more he's not the answer.

  8. Whomever Stallworth signs with, it'll be his fourth team in the last five years (Saints '05 - Eagles '06 - Patriots '07 - Browns '08, suspended all of '09). Stallworth still has plenty of ability but has never found a home after leaving the Saints after the 2005 season. He'll likely have to accept a veteran minimum contract.

he turned into a pretty good player by the time he was done in NO. playing for the browns tends to turn your career to crap
