After first announcing they had released linebacker Joey Porter, ending his tenure in South Florida after three up-and-down seasons, the Miami Dolphins were forced to restore him to their roster due to NFL salary cap rules. Because the reason for is release is so that the Dolphins' wouldn't have to pay his bonus, but if they are stuck with paying him they could keep him until preseason, that way no team would have him ready with the playbook by the start of the season.
