Eagles To Trade QB Donovan McNabb?

Discussion in 'Philadelphia Eagles' started by BigBlueBruiser, Feb 15, 2010.

  1. ESPN's Adam Schefter said on SportsCenter Live Monday that he wouldn't be surprised if Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is traded this offseason. Sal Paolantonio and John Clayton of ESPN also believe McNabb could be available for trade. Expect McNabb rumors to heat up as soon as the trading period opens on March 5.

If McNabb goes, they plan on shipping Vick too. Either Kolb is the future or McNabb is the now. There is no room for Vick in this organization IMO

i like the move if the eagles trade mcnabb, get a first or a second and a fourth for him, thats what we need to do so we can stock up on young defensive players at safety, linebacker, CB, and defensive end, alot of picks would help get this team going in the right direction. I know the KOLB era is dying to begin, could be a great career, could be a bad one. With a great offense around him it should be hard for him not to succeed.

They have to trade one of them don't they? They have McNabb, Vick, and Kolb...I'd trade one or two and get the best of what you can get out of the deal. I would think they keep Kolb because he performed and he is younger. I am not a fan of Vick in any stretch of the imagination...dude shouldn't be in the NFL but that is a different discussion.

Are you serious If McNabb goes then vick would stay cause the eagles wouldn't have a back up QB not to mention that it would create competition for the starting job. You don't give Kolb that kind of leverage getting rid of 2 QBs and no back ups specially when you are doing contract negotiations on your last year of your deal.

    That's just stupid!

I agree. You got to have competition that way neither become complacent.

it's not stupid to trade away both mcnabb and vick, in fact it's the best move. not that it will happen, i mean visk is gone no doubt but trading mcnabb as well will do nothing to help kolb in negociations, the next cba will dictate that more than anything. kolb has had enough competition and is as ready as he will ever be.

You can't get rid of two QB's in a season. How is that the best move? You need someone that has been in the system for at least a year and knows the offense or a veteran backup QB as insurance. And at this point McNabb would bring in the most value in trading, while Vick would only market a 5th or 6th round pick. I say Trade MacNabb keep Vick and once Vick leaves as a free agent we get a compensatory 3rd round pick so how is keeping vick not a good deal when we can get a better pick from him by keeping him.

We have a young Offense all we need to do is build a young and strong defense and we can give the whole thing to Kolb

1st off vick isnt going to be here. period. forget that. no way he's going to get paid $5mil to be a back-up. also we would not get a commpensary 3rd round pick if he left as a free agent as he would be unrestricted.

you need to move on from this, viick is gone. the only question is will he be traded or released. mcnabb is a question mark but it makes sense to move him to obtain extra picks. not sure it will happen though because of the CBA situation because mncabb can tell any team trying to get him to go pound sand as any trade for him will be dependent on the other team re-signing him.

and again, it's not that hard to go get a decent veteran back-up who knows the wco, teams do it every single year and after 3/5 there will be a few more available after they get released. here are a few FA's off the top of my head that could be looked at:

    jon kitna
    chris redman
    chad pennington
    daunte culpepper
    matt moore (only 27)
