Saints DE Bobby McCray said defensive coordinator Gregg Williams deserves heaps of praise for getting inside the head of Colts QB Peyton Manning in New Orleans' Super Bowl win. Williams said before the Super Bowl that he wanted his defenders to deliver "remember me shots" on Manning. And while the Saints may not have sacked Manning, McCray said Monday that Williams' schemes confused the Colts QB and led to his game-changing INT. "He was going against a great guy on our side of the ball, which is Gregg Williams, McCray said. He makes quarterbacks panic and do things they don't want to do, and that puts our players in great position. As you can see, he thought he was throwing to Reggie Wayne but he threw it to us one play. It's just the play design we have on defense. It was a great year and our defensive coordinator has done a lot of great things for us this year." Source: USA Today
The combination of Sean Peyton and Gregg Williams has got to be one of the better coaching tandems in the NFL. Those two have been magic together!
The offense was on the field more because the defense put them there. They led the league in takeaways.
