Panthers To Hold QB Battle To Determine The Starter For 2010

  1. Darin Gantt of The Herald reports via twitter that Panthers GM Marty Hurney refuses to name a starting quarterback and that a quarterback battle between Jake Delhomme and Matt Moore will determine who will start under center for the Panthers in 2010. The Panthers signed Delhomme to a five-year extension worth $42.5 million in April 2009, with $20 million guaranteed despite throwing five interceptions in the Panthers divisional playoff loss to the Cardinals and has gone into a steep decline ever since, throwing just 8 touchdown passes with 18 interceptions in 11 starts in the 2009 season before being placed on IR with a broken finger on his throwing hand. Moore thrived filling in for Delhomme, throwing 8 touchdowns with just 1 interception in his five starts while leading the Panthers to a 4-1 record during that span.

This is bulls*@t!! No question that Matt Moore should be the starter! John Fox needs to go, he is too attached to Jake & obviously can't see what everyone can...Jake is done as a starter!

I couldn't agree more with you! Its a shame how much money was invested in Delhome that could have and should have been invested in a long term deal to Moore where you can actually save money and get better talent
