On Jan. 31, following the Pro Bowl in Miami, Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha told ESPN.com's Tim Graham that he was interested in playing for the Jets, teaming with Darrelle Revis to form the most hellacious cornerback tandem in, like, forever. "Me and Revis have been talking to Rex (Ryan) to try to do something," Asomugha said that night. "You may see us in the future. There's a little bit of talk going on. Either he's coming to Oakland or something else will happen." (Later, he told Graham he was joking.) Said Revis: "Me and him have talked about it, but I can't really control that situation. I don't know if he can either." Asomugha has $16.6 million in guarantees coming to him this year with the Raiders and the Jets appear interested in extending Revis' contract, imagine paying $30 million a year for two cornerbacks. Rich Cimini of The New York Daily News says something still could develop between the Jets and the Raiders for the following reasons: The Jets need a cornerback to replace Lito Sheppard, who will be cut soon, GM Mike Tannenbaum can't sign any big free agents because of the "final eight" rule, so he could try to get his off-season fix by swinging a blockbuster trade, there probably won't be a cap this year, so they can take on a mega contract or perhaps restructure/extend a mega contract and Owner Woody Johnson desperately wants to put a championship team in his new stadium.
