Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic reports that Cardinals defensive end Darnell Dockett has two years left on his contract and it doesn't appear the team will talk to him about an extension until the fall. The club wants to see how the roster, and the budget, shapes up before entering serious negotiations. That won't make Dockett happy, but club officials have talked to him about the situation. The Cardinals defense will probably be decimated with Dansby and Rolle likely to be gone this off-season. I think it would be wise for the team to show a commitment to both Dockett and the defense to keep him hear long term. He is one of the most versatile DT's in the league that can plug the gap AND rush the passer.
