Raiders head coach Tom Cable remained noncommittal about his starting quarterback situation Sunday at the scouting combine. "Let the job be competed for -- that's where we're at," he said. JaMarcus Russell, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2007 draft, played little down the stretch after struggling badly during the 2009 season, giving way to journeymen Bruce Gradkowski and Charlie Frye, both currently unrestricted free agents. "JaMarcus is working and doing the things he should be doing right now," said Cable. "He has a job to do like everybody else." Source: USA Today
The only knock **********Automerged Doublepost********** (cont) The only knock I had of Jamarcus Russell was his accuracy... If he turns that around -- WATCH OUT!
One report I read on Russel was that he needs someone to prod him in order for him to do his work, that's not a good sign. If he can learn to motivate himself (or if someone can teach him), then there's a chance he could turn his career around, that comes before working on his accuracy (because he's not oging to work on his accuracy if he has no work ethic). On a sane team, this is Gradkowski's job to lose.
Dude, if that's your only knock on him then you must be on some really strong drugs. Russell is lazy, can't take the blame, has no leadership, can't read defenses, has sloppy footwork, and he isn't the brightest bulb in the knife drawer(yes this is wrong and that is the joke). That plus he is completely inaccurate.
And to quote Troy Aikman in reference to Mike McMahon "He really just hasnt had much luck at playing football"
Russell wouldn't start in the CFL. maybe not the UFL. he is the worst starting QB in the league right now and it's not even close
