Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten recently chatted with Colin Cowherd. On the arrival of Tony Romo in the NFL: "I think you look what he did this year, and I don't think there's a quarterback that's played at the level he has that's taken on more criticism than what he has. But, he really doesn't allow that to faze him. I think he understands the challenges there. There's been a lot of great quarterbacks in that franchise for a long time - (Roger) Staubach, (Troy) Aikman . . . he only threw nine interceptions, which was a huge difference from the year before, and he had a great understanding. And I think for everybody on our team we really realized that that's our guy, that's the leader of this team. We had a lot of doom and gloom in December for a long time, and we were able to get over that. . . He is easy-going and laid back. (But people ask) does he have enough to take the team; I mean, does he have that 'Peyton Manning' attitude where the team's under his arms. He's got that."

ok, ok, enough. i couldn't help myself considering the title but seriously, where has romo ever come close to showing this leadership ? i ask this of cowboys fans as they would have a much better perspective on this.

I think this past season. The game in New Orleans, by all means... go back to the gameday thread for that week... Was the only week of the NFL Season I counted us out, I figured we'd lose that game, we would have had no momentum, and that game probably costs us the playoffs. Instead Tony went into the dome, and straight killed it. From that point on you just knew we could win any game against any team. Even the Vikings game he didn't play bad, he just had no time to do anything, wasn't at all his fault. And by no means am I comparing Romo to Peyton, cause theres no comparison there. I just remember 2 years ago, everybody said Romo had to step up as a leader of this team in order to have Dallas winning games still, and then at the seasons beginning, everyone doubted Tony more then ever without T.O here because of all he lost in Terrell's presence on the field.. and instead, he made Miles Austin a house hold name, won the division title, and got Dallas a playoff win, something we've not had in way too long of a time. If you watch game highlights and videos of the games, you hear him leading his team, i cant say if he's anything like Peyton, cuz I've never watched every Colts detailed highlights like I do Dallas. Just when you see Tony in the huddle, or walking off the field, and you can hear what he's saying, I can feel his leadership ability. The only thing I think he lacks... is if you watch a Colts game, when the D is on the field, Peyton is looking at pictures, going over things etc etc, then Dallas D is on the field, and you see Tony just sitting there.. either with a smile on his face, or he's pissed/frustrated. rarely do you see him going over things on the sideline, I wish he would do that, a lot more then what he does.

ok, point taken but i think he has a long way to go. that said i like that witten is backing his qb up like this. chemistry builds confidence - confidence builds chemistry.

of course i don't like this one bit for obvious reasons. :icon_frown:

People bashed Manning because he hadn't won a play-off game...until he won one. Same with Tony. He still has a long way to go, so let's wait and see, shall we?
