The Lions released cornerback Phillip Buchanon on Thursday, according to a league source. Buchanon signed a reported two-year, $8.5 million contract with the Lions last offseason as an unrestricted free agent. He played in 13 games, starting 11, in his only season in Detroit. Source: NFL.com
