Bears Nearing An Agreement With DE Julius Peppers?

  1. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports via twitter that the Bears and free agent defensive end Julius Peppers should come to an agreement on a contract by this afternoon. Peppers reportedly had strong interest in joining the Bears defense. Peppers met with Bears officials on Friday morning.

  5. Peppers will receive $40 Million up front for the first three years of his contract with the Bears, according to Adam Schefter. The deal is expected to be finalized within the hour.

  7. They don't call it serious dough for nothing. I can't wait to see the outline of his contract. I wouldn't be surprised if it trumps Albert Haynesworth's $100M deal he received last spring.
