Today in the Chicago Tribune, Dan Pompei floated the idea of the Bears looking at the safety market - the free safety market - when he discussed the possibility of Chicago going after Rams RFA safety O.J. Atogwe. Atogwe is a playmaking safety who was slapped with a low tender by St. Louis. The Rams would have until June 1 to match an offer sheet, when they would have to pay him $7 million for next season or lose his rights. Source: Matt Bowen, Yahoo Sports
No matter what else the Rams do this offseason, nothing will shock, sicken and sadden me like this situation with OJ. He has been the only player who has given his all to the team over the last few seasons, and never complained when the team has screwed him around with his contract all year. Sadly it seems Spagunolo has been gunning for him all year and with the BS tender and all this talk of chasing mediocre replacements (Matt Ware? Brodney Poll? Screw off) would appear to back this up. I can't remember being so pissed off with the team as I am now.
