My ideal OT rules would be the following First one to score SIX points wins. Easy as that whats yours?
No. I like the current rule. I hate when people say that games shouldn't be settled by a coin toss. Games are not settled by a coin toss! It's up to the defense to prevent the offense from getting in FG position.
No (or yes, but not the proposed method). If you don't like the coin toss win in regulation. I like there current setup, but I'd be open to change, but I'm not a fan of the 6 point thing. If you want both teams to touch the ball then make it so both teams have to touch the ball once. If I go down and score a field goal you have 1 chance to match or beat it. Once we both touch the ball once it's sudden death.
I say keep it as is! Each team has 60 minutes to make what will be the game deciding play. If you don't want your fate decided by a coin toss (not that winning the coin toss is a guaranteed victory), go for two, don't play prevent defense, or do something to put your team up for good. Life isn't completely fair sometimes, why should football be? With our kids being taught all this self-esteem crap in schools, children need some examples to show that even if you try your best, sometimes that's not good enough.
I'm in between on this. If the Bears get the ball first in an OT game and they score on that possesion, i'm happy as can be. Then again, both teams deserve a fair chance in OT by getting the ball atleast once.
You out of all people my friend should know that it doesnt take a coin toss to win the game, may i remind you of the kc/dallas game we went to together this year? I wouldnt mind a rule change but I wouldnt care if it didnt get changed.
You "changers" may get you wish after all the years of whining (YEA, ALL YOUR SNITCHING AND WHINING AND MOANING AND GROANING), but you may not like what you get... and it may only be playoffs which is goobered. Competition Committee will propose "modified sudden death" for overtime | ProFootballTalk.com
here's my problem with it. Competition Committee co-chair Rich McKay: The "modified sudden death" rule would apply to the playoffs only. if Lord Favre were on the victorious end of the NFC Title Game, would this even be discussed?
Yes. I'm not buying in to the conspiracy theory. This is a perennial snitch and moan topic. Got nothing to do with Favre. Although the fact that it happened in a high profile championship game may have pushed it to the forefront.
IF and that's a big IF I say yes to an overtime rule change, I would say that if a team scores then the other team will get a chance with a kickoff and they get a chance.
