Rex Grossman says he wants to get back to being a starting NFL quarterback and hopes "to be thrown into the mix" with the Washington Redskins. Speaking to reporters at Redskins Park on Thursday, a day after signing a one-year deal, Grossman said he "definitely" thinks he can be a starter again. He said the Redskins did not discuss his role with them, but he is looking at this as "a stepping stone to the second half" of his career. Source: Chicago Tribune
Although the only reason the bears were able to put up with Rex was because they had a great defense that could give him another opportunity to move down the field. I just don't see the same thing happening with the Redskins and i really do see Campbell as very underrated as a QB, he's not a franchise QB but he fills the spot decently. So i don't see this happening
Hey Sexy Rexy you got this gig cause you happen to know a system. If we didn't hire the guy you played under last year we wouldn't touch you with a 10 foot pole
Ok, I'll openly admit that I'm one of maybe 7 people unrelated to Rex who would call himself a 'Rex Grossman fan', but I fully believe Rex can be a decent starter if an opportunity presents itself. So many people get caught up in the legend of Rex Grossman - the guy who is basically a human f*ckup. At times, Rex has played really well during his limited run as a starter in Chicago, but people tend to only remember the mistakes. Sure he had a bad Superbowl, but people forget how well he played against the Saints and the Seahawks to even get there. Anyhow, Rex absolutely has the ability to be a good QB, but has to make less negative plays if he does get that chance.
A QB who doesn't know how to step up in the pocket, stares down his receivers, & has no mobility wouldn't be a starter in a beer league, let alone the NFL. Sorry, Rex. Adding 'delusional' to your resume won't get it done, I'm afraid...
oddly enough i think hes fairly talented, i do think he can be a decent rough spot guys....kind of how i feel about leftwich. if he needs to start 6-7 games throughout the season i think he could do will in spot duty with a good supporting cast. hes better than a 3rd QB imo
'Good supporting cast' & a good OC. Grossman's biggest 'failure' is the bad luck of landing in Chicago where developing QBs is a myth. Maybe...just maybe, if he was brought up the right way by the right organization, he might have not developed into a good sandlot player in love with the long ball. As it is, his type are just red meat to a hungry NFL DC.
agreed. hes got the talent and the arm...hes never been coached to his potential in chicago though, he was a game manager and thats all he was taught to be
Once teams get in Grossman's face, he is rattled, the Cardinals proved that in 2006. Unless Campbell gets injured, no way Grossman beats out Campbell for the starting job.
