According to the San Jose Mercury News, Russell tipped the scales at 271 pounds when he showed up a day late for offseason workouts. The former LSU quarterback is listed on the roster at 260 pounds, but has reportedly slimmed down considerably since last season, Russell has been rumored to weigh nearly 300 pounds in the past. When we were at the Senior Bowl in Russell’s hometown of Mobile, Ala., we spoke to several of his associates from his high school days and the consensus among them was that Russell’s biggest problem was his diet and tendency to not work out on a consistent basis. Dude, just start giving this guy burgers and ice cream at lunch. Another 15-20 lbs and this dude will be the right size to play tackle.
i heard that he looks in shape and has actually been working out. i do not like the guy but al is going to keep forcing him on us so better just hope he freaking plays decent
10 more pounds or so and he makes a nice undersized Offensive Tackle, but with no mobility whatsoever lol. Maybe he could play end in a 4-3. Iunno but his options are running out. Maybe he should thinking about changing his craft. Sayyyyy a switch to Bullriding? Spainiards can ride him all day long.
I just don't understand why you would draft a QB with the #1 overall pick after his former coaches tell you that he has a crapty diet and does not work out those are key components to know that you don't have someone committed to the team and that they don't care about hard work and dedication. Raiders could have been better off cutting him and signing Delhomme or Anderson while they had they chance.
