49ers QB David Carr To Compete For The Starting Job?

Discussion in 'San Francisco 49ers' started by BigBlueBruiser, Mar 19, 2010.

  1. Will newly acquired David Carr really get a chance to compete with fellow former first-round draft pick Alex Smith for the 49ers' starting quarterback job? "Specifically, those words haven't been said, but they have said that competition is what they love around here," Carr told the local media. "It makes you feel better." Team insiders told Pro Football Weekly that Smith still figures to get most of the first-team reps in OTAs and training camp. "But if Carr looks clearly better, things will take care of themselves, and the starting situation could definitely change," one source said.

Not like he has much to compete against so why not?

I don't see why he wouldn't compete for the starting job and likely win it. He's better than Smith by a considerable margin.
