Peter King of Sports Illustrated reports via twitter that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said at the owners meetings on Wednesday that all Week 17 regular season games will be divisional matchups. King also writes that all Week 16 games could be divisional matchups as well. This would be a step in the right direction to make late regular season contests more meaningful and have less key players resting for the postseason. Source: Peter King: Twitter.com
I like the idea of having more divisional match ups in week 17, but if team wants to rest their players, let them rest their players.
So I guess week 17 the Bears are going to the Metro Dome or Lambeau Field OR the Packers or Vikings come to Soldier Field.
Quite a bit of divisional titles and playoff spots could be on the line during the last two weeks of the season with this move. More teams would be forced to play all out through 17 weeks of the season.
The Steelers have ended the season with either one or two division opponents since 2001... I like it that way. But rest is rest...
Good idea. Although I'd still hate Jim Sorgi :icon_evil: because it was a Colts/Titans game that the Colts rested. Its also an easy rotation if they want to make sure teams don't end w/ 2 division games on the road. 2010 Bengals, @Steelers. 2011 @Steelers, Ravens 2012 Ravens, @Bengals. 2013 @Bengals, Steelers 2014 Steelers, @Ravens, 2015 @Ravens, Bengals etc....
Dallas finished with Philly and Redskins week 16 and 17 last two years if im not mistaken. So nothing new to us, i love it.
At least a good thing comes out of this meeting. I'd love the league to have the equivalent of Rivalry week in College Football.
