NFL Passes New Replay Review Rules

Discussion in 'Detroit Lions' started by BigBlueBruiser, Mar 24, 2010.

  1. If the clock is stopped in the final minute of either half for a replay review, but would not have stopped without the review, officials will run off 10 seconds before resuming play. Either team could take a timeout to void the 10-second runoff.

What if it's a review of ball placement for a first down at the end of a rush where the player stayed in bounds? Clock wouldn't normally stop then, except for the measurement.

    This is confusing.

I guess if the wasn't reviewed it would take a team about ten seconds to get to line if the clock is running, but if it is reviewed they can save some of that time because they can get to the line during the review while the clock is stopped.

This definitely needs some clarification. So, your team is down 5. You're at the 10 driving with no timeouts. You complete a pass to the 1 and as he's being tackled he tries to stretch it over the goal line with 9 seconds left on the clock. As you're getting your team up to the line, the ref gets buzzed from upstairs. So now its either TD or game over, when you could have rushed to the line to get another snap off?
