Roger Goodell Wants To Improve The Stadium Gameday Experience

It's becoming so obvious that it's easier to watch a game at home that commissioner Roger Goodell was asked at the NFL meetings last week about the stadium experience competing with the comforts of home. "It may be more comfortable, but it's not more exciting," he said. Goodell then said the league is actually concerned about fans figuring out it's more comfortable to watch at home. "We as a league are focused on it, and it's one of our priorities," he said. "Our challenge is to continue to make it exciting for people who come to our facility. And that comes from a lot of different perspectives. You start with fan conduct. We talk about making sure people feel safe and they have a positive experience when they come to our stadiums. You talk about how to entertain them when they come to our stadiums. We have to do more with technology. How do we keep investing in and improving stadiums so that they come and have a great experience at a great facility? It is a challenge," Goodell said.

The NFL needs to take trip to a place called "REALITY" and take notice that (Some) people don't want to spend all of their hard earned Money to see a Football game. When you're charging someone a Arm & a Leg.. you scare fans.

I think the NFL & NBA should take notes from the MLB, Major League Baseball is on the rise because they're not charging Fans their whole paycheck to watch a game. (Unless you're the Yankees)

Seriously...stop freaking with the game, the rules, the "experience." It's great the way it is...just go along for the ride Roger and hand out a fine every now and again...

    WTF...

The one game I went to at the new Sullivan Stadium (Gillette to everyone else) was kind of a trainwreck getting into and out of there.

Getting there wasn't bad, but since there isn't enough parking actually at the stadium, paying $50 just to park nearby was required. I guess parking garages aren't worthwhile if they'll only be used like 30 times a year?

It would have been nice to have reasonably-priced ponchos available too.

Despite being near two major highways, there wasn't enough interconnects between the stadium and the highways, so after the game traffic backed up all over the place. I was directed down some suburban route to get back to the highway, after sitting in traffic for at least 15 minutes.

So $250+ just to watch one game with a friend? Screw that, I'll stay at home with my DVR, my less-than-five-dollars-a-drink beer, and my warm, dry, comfy couch. Hell, I can get a really sweet flat screen TV for the price of all of 3 games / 6 tickets?

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad experience, but not one that is worth the cost and aggravation to repeat.

Mikey beer sales make a crap ton of money for the stadium. That ain't going away.

Alcohol IV, I have season tix that I gladly sell and/or give away every year because of the pain in the butt it is to leave the stadium. Not to mention the police "wolf packs" they have outside of the stadium to arrest everyone that has had a drink at the games.

i didnt say go away, i said cut down. im aware of the profits made by beer sales
buying a .50 beer and selling is for 8.00 is a profit thats out of this world

the sales jsut need to be cut down, you cant take young kids to a game, its just to raunchy and dangerous honestly.

I haven't been to any NFL games, but I've been to many college football games and other sporting events and it's 1000x better than on TV. The cities should do a better job with traffic problems, I don't know what the NFL could do to that

Beer sales are cut off 5 minutes into the 3rd quarter. Atleast in Chicago it is. I don't know about all of the other stadiums around the league. Plus they only allow you one beer per purchase.

There really is nothing the NFL can do about traffic jams after the games. Theres always going to be people out there to help direct traffic to atleast keep it safe. If you are someone who doesn't want to be stuck in traffic after the game, if you tailgate, stay and tailgate somemore after the game. When I was going to the Bears games, parking lot security would have to throw me out when the lots were closing.

LOL at MLB being the model to follow. The NFL gameday experience is fine. Just beef up ushers/security to throw riff raff out ASAP and it's all good. It's not too often you see empty seats in any stadium while a team still has a chance to make the playoffs. Sure as it gets colder and teams are out of contention ticket sales dip but NOTHING is gonna change that.

TVs with the NFL ticket at every seat or have 1:00 and 6:00 games instead of 1 and 4 so you have a shot at catching the afternoon games if you go to a 1:00 game.

yeah and with the continued rise in popularity of fantasy football people want to know about more of the games not less of them.
