Cowboys Pay WR Roy Williams' $9.5M Roster Bonus

Cowboys wide receiver Roy Williams received a $9.5 Million bonus from the Dallas Cowboys last week. Williams, who makes an average of $9 Million per season, was to be the team's go-to receiver for the future, but has been replaced as the No. 1 wideout by breakout star Miles Austin and entered the off-season as the team's biggest enigma.

how was this even a thought? Lets give a dude 9.5 mil who hasn't done crap. Ive never heard of a reverse incentive. Here, have 10 mil and if you still do crap, then keep it anyway. WTF

 

Alot of haters... He still has a solid skill set, is young. And has this season to turn it around and become consistent on the field. If he does that than at least he'll have been worth half of what he's getting paid. Having him on the field creates mismatches it's just that he hasn't been able to take advantage of those mismatches.

Exactly, so why give him 9.5

 

Cause it makes no sense to get rid of him now when we know he hasn't played up to his ability and we gave up all those picks that we did for him. Pay him now cause we have some money to maneuver and theres other spots where we can cut money. Hey I'm not going to sit here and say he's been worth the money or the picks for that matter, this is his last chance to stick with the team and he's on a short leash. Getting rid of him would leave a little bit of a hole that we probably could not fill without using draft picks.

if the guy could make a play and CATCH the ball, no biggie pay him 9.5.... he's got aligator arms, and is just as mature as t.o.

 

i agree they should keep him, but don't give this guy a bonus

What a waste of 9.5 Million... they should have cut Roy Williams and used some of that money to make Miles Austin Very Happy.. and go get a better receiver... Roy Williams is a waste.

i blame the cowboys for trading a 1 3 and 6 for him and then giving him a huge extension. this is kinda funny. he could become the next javon walker, or just an overpaid average receiver.
