Eagles Didn't Want The Redskins To Draft Sam Bradford?

Discussion in 'Philadelphia Eagles' started by BigBlueBruiser, Apr 8, 2010.

  1. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports via twitter that NFL executives believe one reason the Philadelphia Eagles traded QB Donovan McNabb to the Redskins was so that Washington could not draft Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford. Schefter writes that the Eagles did not want to see a Sam Bradford/Mike Shanahan union. By trading them McNabb, the Redskins don't have the ammo to trade up for the No. 1 overall pick anymore.

It does sound a little over the top. I mean, maybe it is an added bonus I guess, but are we really supposed to believe that Philly trades McNabb to the Skins just to block questionable rook Bradford, please.

    Wrong!

Jimmy Clausen was always #2 on Washington's board.. Some even say Colt Mccoy was ahead of Clausen. Washington had to make a move, because Bradford wasn't going to fall, and they really weren't all that high on Clausen, and Mccoy simply wasn't worth that high of a pick.

It really amazes me how ignorant some people are when it comes to this whole Bradford/Clausen situation, because it's really not even a situation, or a decision on the part of teams in need of a QB - Sam Bradford is the clear #1 choice. I've been laughing for weeks now, how Washington has been drooling over Bradford.

Is it draft day yet? I'm loving me some Sam Bradford.

    Differently reasons, I'm sure.

If you think Sam Bradford being the best QB in this draft is funny, I can name 32 GMs you can contact, that'll have you laughing your butt off, because none of them have Jimmy Clausen as their #1 guy - and a couple have Colt mccoy ahead of your boy, Jimmy Clausen.

Funniest part about the situation - Jimmy Clausen really is the 3rd best option in this draft, at QB. I really cannot wait to see which dumbass team is so desperate, they actually bite on Clausen in round 1.

And that's not really a bad thing, either - because half the fun of every draft, is seeing which team is ignorant enough, to take the one guy who isn't a first rounder, in the first rounder. In 2010, that guy is - Jimmy Clausen. The only mystery, which team is it?

Jimmy Claussen is gonna go higher than he should

Sam Bradford is an overhyped powerhouse/system product. he is going to fail on a bad team in an offence that doesnt cater to a QB

    Very true.

Don't get me wrong - I want Jimmy Clausen to go as high as possible, as long as the team isn't St. Louis. The lower he drops, the better situation he'll be in.. and if given a couple years to learn behind a vet, like Aaron Rodgers and Kevin Kolb had, that's an even bigger possibility that Clausen may succeed - and I don't want that to happen. If Jimmy Clausen is selected in the top 10, preferably to Buffalo, I'll jump for joy. I really want him in Jacksonville, althought Jacksonville would be a good situation, especially if they find a better coach - but I can't pass up on a Bradford/Clausen rivalry between my nephew and I, since he's a major Jags fan.

I just find this whole Bradford/Clausen thing hilarious, because it's not even a decision. St. Louis would rather have Okung over Jimmy Clausen. You really should be looking on the bright side - as long as Sam Bradford doesn't drop, Jimmy Clausen won't have long to wait to be drafted... Isn't that a good thing? Now, if St. Louis were to pass on Sam Bradford, lol @ poor Jimmy Clausen, because who knows when he'd get taken.

Sam Bradford being the best QB prospect in this draft, works out for all of us, pal.. It works out for me, because as a Rams fan, I finally get a franchise/future pro QB that I've been wanting since Kurt Warner left town - and you, a Jimmy Clausen fan, who will always have the fact that he was a top 15 draft pick.

im not sure what clausen gives you just to write him off...he was an arrogant little pr**k, other than that hes got everything you want.

im sure theres not 32 GMs that will "laugh their asses off" at the idea of clausen being better than bradford. clausen may not be an elite prospect and will get over drafted due to a pathetically dismal QB class

i dont know how you could legitimately put mccoy over him, mccoy is a big name from a big team and i do like the guy but hes a 3rd-4th round prospect based on accuracy and intangibles. i hope he does well but the only reason a team ewould have him over clausen is they are completely turned off by clausens ego

misleading stat when you play in a spread offense and have to complete alot of passes in order to be successful due to the extreme lack of arm strength. if he didnt complete all his passes and show great accuracy theres nothing to like about him as an NFL QB

So the Eagles strategy is to trade away their best QB so their copetition doesnt draft a rookie QB? No wonder they have never won a superbowl.

Neither Clausen nor Bradford is first round talent. None of this year's qb's are, let alone worth #1 overall. It's a pathetic qb class that has been overhyped by the media and qb-starved teams. Bradford made the jump from marginal first-rounder to #1 pick in a few months, which is utter bullcrap. His grade should be based on his play and performance under fire, not on postseason workouts and hype. This crap happens every year.

I agree. We already know neither Washington or Philly wanted Jimmy Clausen.

This is about Sam Bradford. And personally, I can understand why Philly wouldn't want a future pro bowl QB in the division for the next 13 years. I'd much rather have a guy like Donovan Mcnabb in the division, who has, maybe, 3 solid seasons left.
