Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, who had an outstanding rookie season, said he did it on a broken toe that required recent surgery to insert a screw. Nicks said the injury was a combination of a lingering issue from his time in college at North Carolina and the sprained foot he suffered in the season opener against the Redskins. “I pretty much knew after the first game I was going to need surgery,†said Nicks, who also underwent minor wrist surgery this offseason. “But I just pushed through it. You guys saw me limping around (the locker room), I’m sure.†Nicks said he’ll soon have the screw removed and will probably be limited this spring and maybe even into training camp, though he’s tried to speed the healing process by staying off his foot as much as possible Source: Newark Star-Ledger
