3 Team Trade Nets Lions TE Tony Scheffler, Eagles Get LB Ernie Sims

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting via his Twitter page that the Detroit Lions have acquired tight end Tony Scheffler in a three team trade. The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired linebacker Ernie Sims in their portion. The Denver Broncos will receive and undisclosed draft pick.

Detroit got the worst end of this..

 

Sims no longer fit in the Lions plans and lost his starting job last year. The Lions received a pretty good receiving tight end in Scheffler who can stretch the field and gives the Lions the ability to run a lot of two-tight end formations with Brandon Pettigrew.

 

If Detroit got a 5th for Ernie Sims, It makes me wonder what Bobby Carpenter's trade value is?

My guess is half a handjob from an elderly Okinawan "Buy Me Drinky" girl

Freaking steal!

 

I dont like the deal but looking at it from afar

Sims has not been great the last 2 seasons and are Defense improved with Levy in the lineup over him

hes not a great LB but a good one

Do we need another TE no but what it says to be is they plan on taking Suh and not the OT and this is the next best thing to help stafford without using 1 of are only 4 picks in the rounds that we could so that in expect defense in the 1st 4 rounds

 

We still need more help at LB. Getting Sims and Weatherspoon in the same week would be frickin' awesome.

Although, I would LOVE me some Earl Thomas.

 

Nothing Imminent Between The Eagles, Ernie Sims About A New Deal

The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired linebacker Ernie Sims as part of a three-team deal on Monday that also saw tight end Tony Scheffler go to Detroit. Philadelphia sent a fifth-round pick in 2010 to Denver (137th overall) and the Broncos gave a seventh-round pick in 2010 (220th overall) to the Lions, who sent Sims to the Eagles. The Eagles will have to extend Sims at some point, he is finishing out his rookie deal, but Jason La Canfora of NFL.com is told no deal is imminent, according to a league source.
