League sources say the Giants have been getting calls about defensive end Osi Umenyiora's availability, but that no team has made a serious offer. The Giants have not been shopping Umenyiora, who was benched last season because of his lackluster play, particularly against the run. "Teams are calling the Giants, feeling them out," said a league source with knowledge of the Giants' thinking. "But right now, they're sitting tight." Nevertheless, if the Giants, picking at No. 15 in the first round, get shut out of selecting Alabama linebacker Rolando McClain and Clemson running back C.J. Spiller, New York may be forced to select a defensive end, perhaps Jason Pierre-Paul of South Florida. Source: ESPN.com
When the offers seem to be 5th round picks, and the Giants don't want to trade him, why the hell would they want to have anything to do with it. Sorry, 5th round picks might be in vogue for players this year, but that is just a stupidly poor value and the Giants won't even give that the time of day.
