The Cleveland Browns may prefer Boise State cornerback Kyle Wilson to Florida's Joe Haden according to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com. Wilson is definitely in play there, and while Florida’s Joe Haden was long considered the top cornerback in this class, that doesn’t ensure he will be the first to go off the board. The Browns are very high on Tennessee’s Eric Berry as well, but taking a safety that high is tough for some teams to stomach. Source: NFL.com
I was thinking about this the other day. At the start of the process Haden was considered hands down the top prospect at CB. Then the doubts came and the fall (mostly due to his 40). There isn't much talked about as negatives to Wilson's game, and he has the plus of the return game. If it does happen someone is still going to get a sweat deal on Haden falling.
Daniel Jeremiah has said he's hearing almost half the teams have Wilson rated higher than Haden on their draft board so this wouldn't be surprising.
Would be a bad move. Haden is unquestionably the top corner, and I think McCourtey is better than Wilson. But all three are top prospects, I'd be happy with any.
I think the reasoning is that Wilson is a little more physical and plays with a little chip on his shoulder. I can't remember for sure.
