Responding to a question of whether Ben Roethlisberger trade talk is behind the Steelers, director of football operations Kevin Colbert said today that the franchise isn't giving up on the embattled quarterback. "We can't defend the behavior and actions as an organization and we won't, but we do defend his opportunity to make right, and I think that's the right thing to do," Colbert said. Roethlisberger has been suspended for the first six games of the 2010 season for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. Roethlisberger was suspended by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell even though he won't be charged despite accusations that he sexually assaulted a 20-year-old college student March 5 in Milledeville, Ga. "This guy has helped us win two championships and he's made some mistakes," Colbert said, "but he also deserves the opportunity to rectify those mistakes and we stand behind his opportunity to do that." Well the Steelers aren't going to stand in front of him, we all know what happens when he's behind someone.
Long overdue The Steelers organization is a family. When your kid screws up several times, do you take him to the adoption agency? As a Steelers fan, I think BB has a serious problem. He needs to learn to grow up and realize that there is responsibility that comes with fame and money.
So they're standing behind Ben because they want to trade him. Maybe they're standing behind Ben so they can stab him in the back? :icon_eek:
The Steelers may be standing behind him, but people in his home town aren't. I read an item last week in my local newspaper that said that his jerseys were sitting around gathering dust in sporting goods stores in BB's home town. I think they're even tired of him.
Until he comes bacl from suspension and starts winning...if he comes back and loses a bunch of games, he's in trouble. Winning will solve everything...
