Bears Trade SS Kevin Payne To The Rams

    Chicago Bears strong safety Kevin Payne has been traded to the St. Louis Rams, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Sun-Times. The Bears are likely to receive a conditional draft pick in return. Payne provides St. Louis a little bit of insurance should they decide to let restricted free agent free safety Oshiomogho Atogwe walk.

    If this is seriously (which I doubt) a back-up for OJ leaving, then it's not a very good one. :\

    After the Bears traded Williams for Harris, it was inevitable that a safety was on the way out. I agree that Payne is not going to be any sort of replacement should Atogwe leave.
