The Raiders' fourth-round pick, Bruce Campbell, projected as a first-round pick at left tackle in many mock drafts, has been working out exclusively at right guard during the Raiders' three-day mandatory minicamp. Raiders coach Tom Cable said the decision to move Campbell was made to get the former Maryland star work rather than burying him on the depth chart at tackle. Robert Gallery, the No. 2 overall pick in 2004, was moved to left guard after struggling at both tackle positions, and he has developed into Oakland's most accomplished offensive lineman. "This is actually my first time playing offensive guard and my first time on the right side," Campbell said. "It's just football. It's still the same thing, just that I have a little more help and I'm inside. It's not that bad at all." Source: NFL.com
I'm sure he'll get moved out eventually but I like the idea of getting him playing time inside rather than throwing him straight into the fire at OT. OL is one thing I trust Cable's judgment on.
hes really not built for a guard at all being a thin guy and 6-8....he has that 4.7 speed so he should be on the outside but hes freakishly strong enough to play guard, he just might get stood up by DTs cause hes so tall
I like this move that way the kid can grow once he is up to speed of the nfl. im not high on cable but hes making some good moves.
