Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll confirmed that the team is holding a competition at quarterback, but Matt Hasselbeck remains the team's starter. "Matt's our guy. He's our starter," said Carroll. "But Charlie's going after him. He gives us what we want at every position ... competition." Hasselbeck is in a contract year and is very likely to start Week 1 but many see Whitehurst as Seattle's quarterback of the future. Source: Peter King, SportsIllustrated.com
Hasselbeck needs to have a healthy productive year. He's got better weapons than he's had in a while.
when carroll was first hired, i figured that was the end of hasselbeck but then they traded wallace and i began to think maybe he would stick with matt. and then they give up a 3rd rd pick and $10 million over 2 years for Charlie Whitehurst ........................... huh? Charlie Whitehurst? i have to say i'm a bit skeptical about Carroll coaching at this level and Schneider is probably in over his head, but maybe they will prove me wrong.
