Speaking on on ESPN's Oustide the Lines, former Raider and ex-teammate of JaMarcus Russell, Dominic Rhodes said Russell would fall asleep in Raiders team meetings. Rhodes also revealed that Russell would have to be tracked down when he took breaks from meetings and forgot to come back. "I don't think he has the mindset to be great," Rhodes added. One former coach called Russell a "binge eater" while another former teammate said he "looked like a lineman" and was "more comfortable with a role as a backup." interesting take on it, but its not his fault he was taken #1 overall, that goes on the raiders and al davis, russell looked like a top 20-25 prospect at best. calvin johnson and quinn were hands down the better prospects, russell just laughed on his way to the bank. i always said he should hold out for as much money as he could when he was in that long holdout cause it would be his last huge payday ever
:withstupid: :icon_eek: Quinn? Are you talking about Brady Quinn? In the immortal words of 85 "Baby Please" I'll give you Johnson, but Quinn. I guess you could put Quinn 24 and Russell 25. But #1 Baby Please
hate on quinn now, its pretty justified. but as a QB coming out of college into the pros he was about as good as it got. Calvin johnson was the only player that desereved to go #1 but if they HAD to take a QB quinn should have been the hands down only one they would consider,,
Lol really ? Its the raiders fault that he became lazy and fat after he got his money. :icon_rolleyes: Its not Russells fault ? That has to be one of the dumbest comments i have ever heard. **********Automerged Doublepost********** Quinn dropped down to the 20s in the draft and has been a big failure too. Im sure some team is ready to hire you to their scouting dept.
on Quin hindsight is 20/20.............. its not the raiders fault for him getting lazy its there fault for paying him that much $$$$$ bc they shoulda done there homework and known he was lazy from the get go and not pay him that $$$$
Haha..RAiders doing homework..does Davis even have a scouting dept. anymore? Seems like since he took dumb dumb who forgets to come back to meetings (laughed at that one) he now just takes the fastest guy he can find. I'm not super down on the Raiders, they'll win some games, but as long as Skeletor's in charge they don't have a chance in the draft.
yep, we started hearing whispers of his lack of work ethic during his first year and it's now obvious that he just never wanted to put the work in to be successful in this league. wasn't there a story about his coaches giving him a 'game-plan' on CD to study one night but the CD was actually blank and they asked him the next day what he thought of the game-plan and he said he thought it was good............... hahaha
