The New Orleans Saints have come to an agreement on a seven-year, $56.7 million deal with their Pro Bowl guard Jahri Evans, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. The deal, which Schefter says could be announced as early as today, would be the richest given to a guard, averaging $8.1 million per year. Evans, 26, was selected by the Saints in the fourth round (pick No. 108) of the 2006 draft. In four seasons in New Orleans, he has started all 64 regular-season games.

it may seem steep bs but $8 mill/yr for possibly the best guard in the league and he's only 26 years old isn't unreasonable

Doesn't seem steep to me at all Cap'n.

I wish we could have pirated him somehow.

Evans will be a super star soon. Locking him up now is smart. May have cost them more later if he improved. He is a beast.

He's already a super star, it's just that offensive linemen don't get the cred.
