Carl Banks, a former Pro Bowler who was a teammate of Lawrence Taylor on the New York Giants, said Thursday he was surprised by the rape charge police levied against the Hall of Famer. "This is shocking. I would be shocked if this is true, no disrespect to the alleged victim or any other woman who has been victimized," Banks said. "LT has had his share of adversity, but I don't see this in his makeup. He's got kids, he's got daughters and grandchildren. LT has much higher morals than that and I don't believe he is capable of raping someone." Taylor's attorney, Arthur Aidala, denied the allegation and Taylor posted $75,000 bail.
