Bill Williamson of ESPN.com writes that the Denver Broncos believe Demaryius Thomas -- the Georgia Tech wide receiver drafted with the 22nd overall pick -- has the ability to be the No. 1 receiver right away. After trading Brandon Marshall to Miami, Denver has a glaring need for a top receiver. Thomas will not be brought along slowly and the Broncos want him to shine right away. It’s a lot to ask for from a rookie, but Thomas is a skilled, hard worker. Source: ESPN.com
hes still huge and fast and his route running ability is overrated, hes been working on it and should be fine
Dude being big does nothing outside the redzone now. If he can't run routes or catch consistantly then most CBs will eat him alive. And his speed was speculated.
who said he CANT run routes? id like the see where he got drafted in the first round being unable to run or understand routes. hes a legit 4.35 guy. he plays fast and has all the leaping ability and body control you want in a big WR...raw, maybe...taleneted...yeah, he need every bit of training camp and preseason but if his foot is good to go by then i dont see why they wouldnt throw him out there. calvin johnson wasnt the best route runner in the world and last year crabtree and maclin played in a spread with one on one coverage non stop. it can be done, its all on his foot though
Dude it was McDaniels who took him in the first round. That right there is a red flag for failure. At GT the routes he had to run was either run down the field and catch, or run down the field and block. The thing about Maclin, Crabtree and Johnson is that they all had very good hands. I'd like to see where you got he is a 4.35 guy, because last I heard that was someone saying he ran it but no one had proof.
