Free Agent RB Brian Westbrook To Visit The Redskins On Wednesday

Discussion in 'Washington Redskins' started by BigBlueBruiser, May 11, 2010.

  1. Even though the Washington Redskins have added Larry Johnson and Willie Parker to a backfield that includes Clinton Portis, the team has invited Brian Westbrook for a visit on Wednesday, according to sources. Westbrook comes highly recommended by his former Eagles teammate, Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb, who apparently has made his case for the running back since McNabb was acquired by Washington in a trade, a source said. Westbrook, who was released by the Eagles in February, has passed a physical with the St. Louis Rams, where he also has a familiarity with offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, a former Eagles assistant. Westbrook's ailments that have passed physical screenings include knee and ankle injuries, as well as multiple concussions. The Redskins have the first organized team activity May 17-19; their level of interest in Westbrook is unknown, but dialogue between the two sides has been ongoing.

Would be helpful for McNabb to get comfortable but I don't think it's a good long term idea.

    Thats not entirely true..

There hasn't been a whole lot of options at RB this offseason so I see no harm in bringing in all these guys to try and stir up some competition. Its not possible to get quality young players in every position in 1 year so you have to plug the holes with vets sometimes.

We have added some youth in a few of the key positions and the key thing has been keeping all of next years picks so they can keep filling those gaps with young players.

oline was the team's biggest problem so the skins bring in a qb & three rb's.

    makes sense.

You obviously missed the entire draft this year.

WB is only coming in because McNabb has requested it. See in DC, the coaches listen to their veteran players and respect their opinion, something McNabb isnt used to experiencing.
