Discussion in 'NFL General Discussion' started by BigBlueBruiser, May 11, 2010.

  1. The Giants, Jets and the New Meadowlands Stadium LLC are scheduled to hold a press conference on Wednesday morning to unveil the bid they'll present to the NFL later this month in an attempt to host the 2014 Super Bowl. The owners will vote on the proposal, as well as those from South Florida and Tampa, at the league meetings in Dallas. A winner is expected to be announced May 25.

It's fine. Football is a sport where weather is a factor.

It will be a huge disaster for the Superbowl to be hosted in New York. Imagine the Superbowl being played in tempratures in the 20s...just doesn't make any sense at all..

If it is in New York, I hope its the Chargers and the Cardinals, that'd be funny.

    DoubleC i'm ready now...

    Why?

Screw the Sun belt, get rid of that stupid weather rule for the Super Bowl. Play the Big Game in Lambeau Field, in Soldier Field, Invesco Field, Gilette Stadium, etc.

Bad weather adds some drama, especially to a playoff game.

I agree that the weather adds an element that can make things interesting that doesn't exist in any other sport. I just believe that the SB is too important to throw weather in as an additional factor. I also believe the swamps of New Jersey are crapty place to hold anything of any importance but that's just me ; )

ALSO while the game itself will probably not be TOO affected (though the possibility for it to be hugely affected is there i.e. if it was in NY last year) The superbowl unlike any other games in the season or post season is a national event that leads to other huge week long events. It shouldn't IMO have to run the risk of a large percentage of that being snowed out or just ruined because it's a crapty place (I'm looking at you Detroit). I say if you wouldn't want to vacation there without the SB happening then don't hold the SB there : )
