While NFL Network analysts Jamie Dukes and Tom Waddle offered their assessments of the Lions during a 2010 season outlook Monday, one of the newest members of the team — DE Kyle Vanden Bosch — said during a recent interview he believes the Lions are better than most observers believe. “In spite of our record last year, and in spite of our record the last few years, we’re a lot closer than people think,†Vanden Bosch said. “I think we can get this thing turned around quickly. I think we have the right pieces in place to be a competitive team and give ourselves an opportunity to win each week.†Vanden Bosch touches on how Lions coach Jim Schwartz — his former defensive coordinator in Tennessee — sold him on the changes in Detroit. It will be interesting to see how the vision of Schwartz plays out on his new-look defensive line with Vanden Bosch, Corey Williams and Ndamukong Suh. Source: NFL.com
They've been bad for so long I'm actually anxious to see them do well. They've got some great talent! Best of luck to them!
i think they are too, now that they got another RB, TE, 2nd year stud TE, an actually talented defense and stafford in year 2....they should be knocking on the door doing it the cardinal and saint way
the lions were certainly the most active team this offseason. i loved the signing of burleson. is he great? no, but he doesn't have to be when you have megatron on the other side. kvb and suh will upgrade that defense by themselves. a dominating defensive line makes the linebackers and secondary better.
SHL, Suh, KVB, and Avril/White=sick add in some studs like delmas with levy, dizon being young players trying to make an impact and speivey at CB who i absolutely loved this team could be well on its way
As bad as their record has been I have to agree with KVB and say they are and have been close. Not sure there's a specific point to put your finger on except for consistency that has kept them from being competitive. Like Stafford....good wr's....rb...defense....they'll be competing as the Bears decline and Pack will be middle of the road. If Vikes don't get a qb they'll be middle too. Two years.....Lions NFC North champs?
Wow. What a fantastic job this team's front office did. Two years ago, we all laughed on Youtube as Dan Orlovsky ran into the back of the end zone for a safety. Now, after SMART drafting and good offseason acquisitions, here we are. Kevin Smith got hurt? Oh let's just bring in one of the fastest rushers in the history of the draft. Brandon Pettigrew is more of a blocking TE? Oh let's just go get a TE with some of the best hands for his position. Megatron is getting triple teamed? Oh let's just bring in a smart, veteran receiver to take the pressure off of the former Yellow Jacket. We're not great against the run? Let's just go get Ndamukong Suh, Kyle Vanden Bosch, and Corey Williams. If Brett Favre (IF) doesn't come back, the Lions either win the division or come in second. HAVE to love what they've done.
