Texans LB Brian Cushing said Thursday that he didn't ingest or inject anything into his body, and he denied taking any substances banned by the NFL. "I appealed the decision and in that process presented significant medical and scientific data challenging the league's determination that the banned substance was present by ingestion or was not naturally occurring," Cushing said. "I want to make it know that I did not inject or ingest any illegal substances that would enhance my performance. My only option was to appeal the decision." Cushing admitted that the substance he tested positive for was HCG, a female fertility drug that can be used to mask the existence of steroids. "I have medical concerns about the test and how low the levels were," Cushing said. Cushing said he doesn't know how the substance got into his body in the first place. "It's something I'm very concerned about," he said. "The fact that how it's there and what's going to determine it from happening again. That's going to be something that we're going to medically investigate." Cushing, who already lost his appeal of the NFL's four-game suspension, said he doesn't plan to take any further action against the league. "I have to respect the process of the NFL and what they're doing," he said. Cushing said he was pleased with the outcome of Wednesday's revote by the Associated Press over his Defensive Rookie of the Year Award. "I know I didn't do anything," he said. "I earned that award. I did everything I could. I was disappointed with the revote, but you know, I have to respect the process. I would never. I know what I did." Source: NFL.com
I'm a Cushing fan and a die hard Texans fan, but I won't excuse Cushing here. No one is buying this. He just needs to take his punishment and show the league next season that he's still a bad butt.
