Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith has embraced his role as the team's leader after an offseason of changes. Smith, who turns 31 next month, is now the third-oldest player on Carolina's roster. "The moves don't affect me," he insisted. "I still have to go out there and play football. My job and my requirements don't change because they change a few positions." Panthers coach John Fox feels as though Smith is ready to help lead. "I think he's grown up," Fox said. "I've been able to watch him grow up in front of my eyes. With that experience there’s maturation, and he’s definitely matured a lot, not only as a player, but even as a young man." Source: Associated Press
